Guitar, Acoustic for Beginners

Learning to play the guitar can be fun and very rewarding! In this introductory course we will learn the names of the parts of the guitar and how to tune a guitar. We will cover the names of the notes on the guitar, learn some basic strumming patterns and try out some picking as well! Moving on to chords and common progressions, we will work up to playing a complete song of your choice, either solo or with friends Students should have their own guitar and bring it to every class - we will be focusing on the acoustic steel-string or nylong-string guitar. The instructor will have handouts and course materials available for the students. No experience is necessary.

You will learn the practices for silversmithing a bezeled stone set ring from torch use and stone setting to finishing techniques. You will also learn how to cut, solder and shape a perfectly fit silver bezel from soldering the bezel to a handmade silver back plate, then to a handmade shank. These simple techniques will deliver professional results and you will enjoy a ring that showcases your new skills. For the first class please bring your own sea glass or beach stone you would like to use. The instructor will review your stone to make sure it will work and allow her to bring the appropriate supplies for the second class. Materials fee of $30, payable to the instructor on the first night.
