Beginner’s Spanish focuses on basic elements, giving emphasis to development of spoken language skills. One goal will be ‘thinking on one’s feet’—viable self-expression. Classroom practice spans the gamut from the traditional through situational exercises and ‘total physical response’ techniques. Textbook fee of $15 is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Simple means a minimum of just 3 minutes each day. In our often hectic world of constant demands, are you wondering how you could ever add another commitment to your daily routine? If a daily practice of just 3 minutes a day allowed the other 1437 minutes of your day to flow more easily, would you be willing to try the daily practice for 30 days? Instructor's workbook will be available for $10.

Antiques and Fleas Fridays - Searsport

Leave the summer driving to us as we head up and down the midcoast in search of treasures! We'll travel together by bus from the CHRHS parking lot, spend approximately 2 hours in the morning at one location, then take a break for lunch, and head out for 2 more hours before heading back home. Transportation for these day excursions is by school bus. Registrations are limited to 25 so that there is plenty of room on the bus to spread out and bring home your items. Trips run rain or shine, and we'll adjust our stops for more inside or outside time based on the weather. So grab your shopping buddies and join us! Searsport area stops will include the Antique Mall, Treasures & Trash Barn, Pumpkin Patch Antiques, and Captain Tinkham’s Emporium, with others possible as time allows. We'll grab lunch at the Anglers Seafood Restaurant. Cost of lunch is not included in the trip price, and you may order anything off the menu.

Plein Air Painting at the Farm

Wonderful vistas, buildings, and plants make this farm a stunning background for this fun Plein Air painting class overseen by oil painting teachers Sandy Clement and Linda Leach. Standing easels, stools, painting supplies, a surface to paint on (canvas, watercolor paper, etc.) of any size, and bug spray should be among the materials brought with you for this one day class. A box lunch is included in the fee. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions at least 1 week before class.

Watercolor - Making the Landscape Come Alive

Experimenting with the unique qualities of watercolor, we will work in and from the landscape. Everyone will be encouraged to appreciate individual creativity while working to improve observational and technical skills The focus will be on the bold use of color, abstraction, and using our imaginations. Beginners and experienced are all welcomed! Students should have their own tubes of watercolor paint - minimun of red, blue, & yellow. This is available on-line or at a local art supply store. Please, no pan watercolor sets. Registration fee includes paper.

Learn to Play Native American Flute with the White Owl Duo

The haunting, mystical quality of the Native American Flute is quite easy to produce. The White Owl Duo has taught over 10,000 musicians and non-musicians to play using their unique finger-numbering system. No music reading experience is required and the instructors provide sterilized flutes for in-class use. Most folks can play at least a dozen songs after one class. This class will explore the compelling power of this simple, indigenous instrument. The instructors' 4 books and 4 CDs will be available for purchase.

Both CSA Shares (a type of local produce "subscription") and your own garden can give you surprises each week. We will cover different cooking techniques for various vegetables plus discuss ways to preserve your share for later use.
