You will learn the practices for silversmithing a bezeled stone set ring from torch use and stone setting to finishing techniques. You will also learn how to cut, solder and shape a perfectly fit silver bezel from soldering the bezel to a handmade silver back plate, then to a handmade shank. These simple techniques will deliver professional results and you will enjoy a ring that showcases your new skills. Materials fee of $30, payable to the instructor on the first night. Knitting for Beginners

Anyone can knit! This class will cover everything you need to know to make your choice of beginner projects: a scarf, hat, cowl, or wrist warmers. The instructor will cover casting on, knit and purl stitches, increasing and decreasing and provide tips and support for making a wonderful woolen wearable that you'll be proud to own. Materials lists for each project will be available at The Cashmere Goat in Camden or from the instructor at the first meeting. Please bring a pair of knitting needles size 6, 7, or 8 and some worsted weight yarn, preferably a light color. Mention this class at The Cashmere Goat to receive a discount on materials. Tina Casteris is a self-taught knitter with a love of making warm woolen wearables for herself and her loved ones. She looks forward to making some new knitting friends!

Have you always wanted to make socks? Have you dabbled in sock knitting but just can't seem to get the hang of it? Or, are you an experienced sock knitter looking to improve your skills? In four weeks of tutorials we'll break down sock construction from heel to toe, compare different methods, discuss patterns, yarns, books and resources to provide you with what you need to explore the rich world of sock knitting. Prerequisites: You must already know how to knit, purl, increase, decrease, cast on, and bind off. Experience knitting in the round is helpful, double pointed or circular needles are both suitable. Materials: 100g sock weight yarn such as Berroco Sox; 4 or 5 double pointed knitting needles size 0, 1, or 2; darning needle, scissors, tape measure, stitch markers if you have them. Oil Painting - Botanicals session

The Oil Painting class is always popular! This semester’s theme is: “A Study of Botanical Paintings”. In a special first-time collaboration with the Coastal Mountains Land Trust, we will be creating paintings of plants that one might see in a Maine coastal and woodland preserve. After the class, prints will be made of your paintings and the artwork will be installed within the Fernalds Neck Preserve trails for all to enjoy. This is a fun group that will get you painting at least one night per week. The class is open to all levels of skill, but you must have had some painting experience.
