Participants who attend all classes receive a homebuyer education certificate, recognized by Maine State Housing Authority and Rural Development. The certificate is good for 2 years. Homebuyer education class attendees over the years have given the classes high ranks and recommend that every first-time homebuyer consider taking the class. This class can help you gain the skills and confidence you need to stretch your money, pay your bills, reduce debt, find money for savings, plan for retirement, and set personal financial goals. At the end of the class you will have a plan to achieve greater financial stability. A follow-up session is scheduled to provide additional networking and support. Successful completion of this class meets one of the requirements for the Family Development Account (FDA) and Rainy Day Savings (RDS) matched savings programs. Social Security Benefits Workshop

This is an informal session to answer questions about retirement, survivors, disability and Medicare benefits. We will cover Internet services available, the application process and general program rules. You can bring your Social Security Statement to use as a planning tool (also available online by creating a My Social Security account) if you have specific questions about your benefits. This has proven to be a very informative session!
