College Transitions are programs that allow a student who already possesses a high school diploma to brush up on skills in order to gain entrance into college. If you are having trouble passing college entrance exams, or the college has told you to take adult education classes to bring you up to entrance standards, you need the College Transitions program. There is no fee for this program and you can drop in any time. Please call Heidi at 236-3358 or the Adult Ed office at 236-7800, ext. 274 or 275 for more information or to register. Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and Tuesday 5:00-8:00 p.m. Begins September 1 Adult Learning Center 7 Lions Ln. Camden

Math Boot Camp URock

Math Boot Camp at URock! Come experience a fast-paced, math refresher class designed to give you the background needed to pass the arithmetic section of the Accuplacer college entrance exam.  You will review math from the basics through beginning algebra, learn important test-taking tips, and gain confidence in your overall math ability.  We promise not to yell at you like real boot camp, but it is expected that you will have consistent class attendance, do weekly homework assignments and take quizzes designed to prepare you for the rigors of Accuplacer math testing.  Completion of this class will enable you to confidently retake the Accuplacer and qualify for placement into Math Boot Camp, Part 2 or a URock math class. Registration $50, includes textbook. 12 weeks 9:00-11:30 a.m. Begins Fri 1/27 URock 91 Camden St. Rockland Heidi Nolan, an instructor for 6 years at the Adult Education Learning Center, teaches the daytime class. She also taught Adult Basic Skills Education Classes for the U.S. Army at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Heidi acknowledges that many people experience "math phobia" and she wants people to learn to work through that fear!

Personal Math Training Class URock

Do you need some math “training” for an introductory class you are currently taking OR one that you plan on taking in the future? Our Personal Math Training Class can help! Held at University College at Rockland (URock), this class meets every Wednesday from 12 - 4 PM for individualized math support. Heidi Nolan has created the following steps so you can meet your goals. Step 1: Complete a math fitness test Step 2: Develop your personal math goals Step 3: Work with our math trainer to develop a plan & training routine Step 4: Meet weekly with our math trainer to strengthen your math fitness Step 5: Achieve your math education goals! This class is FREE, but you do need to register through the Adult Ed office. 12 weeks Noon to 4:00 p.m. Begins Wed 1/25 URock 91 Camden St. Rockland Heidi Nolan, an instructor for over 10 years at the Adult Education Learning Center, teaches this class.
