Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers - Recertification

This is a refresher/recertification course for the Basic Life Support program. Prior to class, participants MUST present a valid certification from one of the following entities: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), Canadian Red Cross, Health and Safety Institute (ASHI, EMSS, 24-7 Medic), Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI), National Safety Council (NSC).

The primary purpose of the Babysitter’s Training course is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to give care safely and responsibly for children and infants, such as diapering, bottle- and spoon-feeding, age-appropriate games, activities, and dealing with uncooperative children. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills and become better babysitters. They will learn how to build a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, and learn about basic childcare and basic first aid. This training is designed for youths ages 11 to 15.

Note: This course does NOT contain a First Aid component. This program ensures that individuals with a duty to respond (public safety professionals, healthcare providers, and others with a duty to respond) have the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. Updated coverage of CPR, AED, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, airway adjuncts, “Team CPR,” and Naloxone (Narcan®). A focus on soft skills, with additional coverage relating to team-based resuscitation. This program is accepted for continuing education credit by CAPCE and NREMT for EMS personnel, and by most state agencies and licensing boards. MUST ATTEND ALL CLASS SESSIONS.

There will be an emphasis on life-threatening conditions and a focus on critical life-saving skills. Decision tables that provide a concise summary of what signs to look for and what treatment steps to take during an emergency. New and updated content on CPR, AED, first aid, epinephrine injectors (Epi-Pen®), hemorrhage control, opioid overdose response (Naloxone/Narcan®), compression-only CPR, and COVID-19. Accepted by most Federal and state regulatory and licensing agencies. MUST ATTEND ALL CLASS SESSIONS.

Our communities are looking for individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life.

Children’s behavioral health services are vital to Maine’s children with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health disorders and their families. And the need in our area is great! As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.

We are excited to connect our communities with Woodfords Family Services for this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a waitlist for services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace.

  • You will complete 12 online modules then two 4-hour live sessions. 
  • Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online bloodborne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. 
  • The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours.
  • Assistance with job placement is provided to anyone who completes the program.
  • Assistance with technology may be available.

 Prerequisites:

  • A high school diploma or equivalency. Proof of education is required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course.
  • An administration fee of $25 is required at registration.
  • A reading comprehension assessment is required prior to completing the application, administered through your local Maine Adult Education program. This requirement may be waived by showing successful completion of a college-level English course.

Dental Assisting with RHS Certificate

Join Kelly Rose, DMD for a 10-week certificate program in Dental Assisting for one of the most high-demand careers.  This program is designed to teach all aspects of dental assisting and provide you the skills you need to work in this field and pass the RHS certificate exam needed for employment. This program is taught by a Dentist and includes an opportunity for internships. The price of the course Upon passing the DANB RHS®, you will receive a certificate of knowledge-based competency for that component from DANB. Payment plans are available.  The course includes all books, exam preparation materials, and fees for the DANB RHS® certificate program.

Medical Coding with CPC-A Certification

In-depth medical coding for CPC certification. This program is designed to teach all aspects of medical coding and provide you the skills needed to become nationally certified and get into the job market as a Certified Coder. This certificate program is taught by a Certified Medical Coder and includes Medical Terminology/Anatomy & Physiology for ICD-10 coding, CPC exam, AAPC membership, 3 practice CPC tests, and all books. Basic computer skills are required.
