Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers - RECERT

THIS COURSE DOES NOT HAVE A FIRST AID COMPONENT This program ensures that individuals with a duty to respond (public safety professionals, healthcare providers, etc) have the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. The course emphasizes active, hands-on learning and uses scenario-based activities to help participants learn how to provide one rescuer and two rescuer CPR, multiple rescuer response, how to use an AED and relieve an obstructed airway for adult, child and infant patients. Participants will learn how to check both a conscious and unconscious patient, and how to give effective ventilations to a patient experiencing a cardiac and/or respiratory arrest, including using a resuscitation mask and bag-valve-mask (BVM) resuscitator. This is a refresher/recertification course for the M-210 program. Prior to class, participants MUST present a valid certification from one of the following entities: • American Heart Association (AHA) • American Red Cross (ARC) • American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) - includes MEDIC First Aid • Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) • EMS Safety Services (EMSS) • National Safety Council (NSC)

The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches participants to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as cardiac and respiratory emergencies; head, neck, and back injuries; concussion; shock; choking; stroke; seizures; anaphylactic shock (including use of Epi-PenⒷ); burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, diabetic emergencies, and heat and cold emergencies. This program teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. This is a refresher/recertification course. Prior to class, participants MUST present a valid certification from one of the following entities: • American Heart Association (AHA) • American Red Cross (ARC) • American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) – includes MEDIC First Aid • Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) • EMS Safety Services (EMSS) • National Safety Council (NSC)

Our communities are looking for individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life.

Children’s behavioral health services are vital to Maine’s children with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health disorders and their families. And the need in our area is great! As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.

We are excited to connect our communities with Woodfords Family Services for this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a waitlist for services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace.

  • You will complete 12 online modules then two 4-hour live sessions. 
  • Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online bloodborne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. 
  • The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours.
  • Assistance with job placement is provided to anyone who completes the program.
  • Assistance with technology may be available.

 Prerequisites:

  • A high school diploma or equivalency. Proof of education is required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course.
  • An administration fee of $25 is required at registration.
  • A reading comprehension assessment is required prior to completing the application, administered through your local Maine Adult Education program. This requirement may be waived by showing successful completion of a college-level English course.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant with CCMA Certification

Medical Assistants are responsible for a variety of medical office tasks from administrative to technical and scientific duties and must have quality human relations skills.   Some of the job duties include cleaning and dressing wounds, taking blood samples, administering medications, taking vitals, preparing a patient for EKGs, obtaining a patient’s history, and assisting physicians during examinations.  Our program provides virtual reality style classroom work as well as traditional style teaching for a blended learning experience.  Practicals are performed during the program to ensure that the student has proper techniques and will be ready to pass the National Certification.  Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant) national certification exams through NHA. Tuition includes national certification, 6 practice exams, online study guide materials, books, resume assistance, and all other associated fees.  Externships may be available in your area. Payment plans are available for all medical certificate programs.

This comprehensive blended five-week training program meets all requirements of the Maine State Board of Nursing and will have you secured into a position before starting.

Students without a high school diploma, or those who have been out of school for a while, are encouraged to apply. Academic training and support is provided.

Student Tuition: FREE for accepted applicants

Days/Time: Full day classes, 5 days per week, five weeks

Portions of this course are completed by remote lectures. Access to a computer with camera and microphone plus internet is required.

Join Kelly Rose, DMD for a 10-week certificate program in Dental Assisting for one of the most high-demand careers.  This program is designed to teach all aspects of dental assisting and provide you the skills you need to work in this field and pass the RHS certificate exam needed for employment. This program is taught by a Dentist and includes an opportunity for internships. The price of the course Upon passing the DANB RHS®, you will receive a certificate of knowledge-based competency for that component from DANB. Payment plans are available.  The course includes all books, exam preparation materials, and fees for the DANB RHS® certificate program.
