Want to learn the differences between the methods of completing the course requirements; Traditional face-to-face Classroom (56 hours), Blended (30 hours online and 28 hours classroom, or the recent Coast Guard Approved Online course? These information sessions will answer those and additional questions you may have about obtaining the license. Captain License Course OUPV/Six-Pack Level with Master Upgrade

This course qualifies students for a Coast Guard license to operate vessels carrying up to six passengers for hire (OUPV). The fee includes access to the Blended OUPV Course using Captain School Key West’s Learning Management System, charts, navigation tools, and the USCG-approved and accepted test. Online 30 hours start on October 5, 2022, and run through November 16, 2022. Students’ progress will be mentored online by the instructor, and students have assignments to complete. During this time, there will be 16 hours of online mentoring and coaching on Zoom, Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Once online requirements are complete, there will be 16 hours of required in-person classroom sessions. The classroom sessions conclude with the administration of the four (4) Coast Guard approved and required examinations.

Train to become a working Registered Maine Guide not just a test taker. Learn the skills that guides use daily including: map & compass, coastal navigation, shelter building, separated client searches, cooking, canoeing, snowshoeing, SUP’ng, plus specialty skills for sea kayaking, fishing, and hunting future guides. This hybrid program includes Zoom, all day workshops, and homework assignments. Course will not include the following also needed to become a Registered Maine Guide: $55 fingerprint background check, First Aid and CPR certificate, and $100/specialty IF&W test application fee. Students need access to a computer/tablet with audio and video capabilities and a printer, and will also need to have a 2 degree baseplate compass. No class on 2/14 or 2/21.

Games are increasingly recognized as a tool that can serve many business purposes beyond entertainment. This Certificate provides you with a general introduction to what goes into the design and development of both video and analog games, with a particular focus on the use of games outside of consumer entertainment.  In the first course, you will discover resources for developing game design, identify the mechanics and verbs used in different games. You will come away with knowing the different activities that are part of game design, being able to flesh out a game idea in order to increase the chances of having a successful game design experience, and have a basic understanding of how to work with game developers. In the second course, you will learn the basics of the video game design process, learn about the main video game genres, and use a game development application to begin your journey of making games.    By successfully completing this Certificate in Basic Game Design, you will have taken the first steps into understanding game design, and being able to create your own games. Introduction must be taken before Intermediate.

Our communities are looking for individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life.

Children’s behavioral health services are vital to Maine’s children with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health disorders and their families. And the need in our area is great! As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.

We are excited to connect our communities with Woodfords Family Services for this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a waitlist for services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace.

  • You will complete 12 online modules then two 4-hour live sessions. 
  • Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online bloodborne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. 
  • The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours.
  • Assistance with job placement is provided to anyone who completes the program.
  • Assistance with technology may be available.

 Prerequisites:

  • A high school diploma or equivalency. Proof of education is required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course.
  • An administration fee of $25 is required at registration.
  • A reading comprehension assessment is required prior to completing the application, administered through your local Maine Adult Education program. This requirement may be waived by showing successful completion of a college-level English course.
