Have you ever dreamed of securing funding for a project you have in mind or being awarded an artist-in-residency for your own creative work? Grants, crowdfunding awards and fully funded residencies for individuals are available. This class will help you discover where you can apply for such funding, simplify the application processes, examine the qualifications necessary for a particular funding, and help you move through the fear of not being good enough to win an award. You will also learn that you really do not need to have connections! Homebuyers Education 10.14.15

Class participants who attend all classes receive a homebuyer education certificate, recognized by Maine State Housing Authority and Rural Development. The certificate is good for 2 years. Homebuyer education class attendees over the years have given the classes high ranks and recommend that every first-time homebuyer consider taking the class. Investing in the Stock Market 10.7.15

This class will teach the basics of investing including fundamental analysis, technical analysis, risk management and how economic changes impact stock values. More advanced strategies for assembling your portfolio will be discussed, including the use of options, growth stocks and high yielders. Students will learn how to enter their own trades and adopt a stock to study during the course. Registration $45. 6 weeks 6:30-8:00 p.m. Begins Wed 10/7 CHRHS Rm 235 Lowrie Sargent is Vice President and Investor Advisor representative for Maine Asset Management and Director of Education and member of the State Board of Directors for Better Investing. He has been investing since 1978 and has a Masters of Business Administration, Loyola College, and Bachelor of Arts, Cornell University. He also is a recipient of the Vedder Prize in Economics.

Social Security Benefits Workshop 9.29.15

This is an informal session to answer questions about retirement, survivors, disability and Medicare benefits. We will cover Internet services available, the application process and general program rules. You can bring your Social Security Statement to use as a planning tool (also available online by creating a My Social Security account) if you have specific questions about your benefits. This has proven to be a very informative session!
