This high school level introductory chemistry class, with lab, is designed for those needing chemistry for acceptance into college programs. This course qualifies as a lab science for college admissions. The instructor keeps class rigorous, yet relaxed and supportive. Limited to 15 students. Registration $75, which includes all lab and textbook fees, waived if taken for high school diploma or if you are a College Transitions student. This class meets both Tuesday and Thursday. 7 1/2 weeks 5:00-8:00 p.m. Begins Tues 2/3 CHRHS Rm 317 Paul Desaulniers is a Chemistry teacher at Oceanside High School.

College 101 - Essentials for Parents and Students 4.1.15

This class is designed specifically for the parents of sophomores and juniors, but all parents are welcome. The topics covered will include an overview of college options, the application process, that dreaded financial aid and FAFSA form, scholarships, essays and visits. We will include a panel discussion with current seniors to hear how the process has been for them. Students are welcome to attend with their parent(s). This class is most valuable if you attend all three nights. HiSET Preparation Daytime 2014-15

Heidi Nolan runs our daytime learning center for adults that helps people obtain their HiSET Monday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesdays 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Wednesdays 11:00a.m.-4:00 p.m. and Friday 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Superintendent's building, also known as the "Bus Barn," behind the middle school in Camden. Drop in anytime it is open to talk to Heidi. Instruction is individualized to meet your needs and you can come and go freely throughout the semester. Heidi will help you in the areas where you need help. When you are ready, we will give you the official tests. There is no fee for HiSET training or testing. Begins Tues 9/2 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Adult Learning Center 7 Lions Lane, Camden. Heidi Nolan oversees our learning center and has taught adult literacy classes over five years for Five Town CSD and the U.S. Army.

Math Lab 2.26.15

This math class is designed to help students working in any area of math, from the basics to algebra and geometry. Whether you are pursuing a diploma, GED, or need math for transition to college, the instructor will work with students at their own levels and their own pace, either individually or in small groups. Registration $75, waived if taken for high school diploma or HiSET credit. 12 weeks 3:00-7:00 p.m. Begins Thursday 2/26 CHRHS Rm 214 Donna Peterson has over 25 years experience teaching and tutoring math at middle school, high school and adult education levels. She holds a Master's degree and has won several awards, including the Presidential Award (PAESMT) in 2005 for excellence in teaching math.

Reading Workshop 2.23.15

This class is designed for students who need help improving reading skills, whether working towards a HiSET reading-based test, or credit recovery for an English class. Participants should plan on spending lots of time reading - aloud and silently in class and outside of class with assigned homework. The instructor will help you become a better, more accomplished reader. Registration $75, waived if taken for high school diploma or HiSet credit. 12 weeks 5:00-8:00 p.m. Begins Mon 2/23 CHRHS Rm 225 Ron Staschak has been teaching English classes to students from elementary through adult levels for 15 years. He has also taught literacy skills and worked with bilingual students.

Writing Workshop 2.23.15

The class is designed for students who need help improving their writing skills, whether you are working towards a HiSET Writing Test, the essay for college entrance or credit recovery for an English class. You will get lots of experience writing in class and in homework assignments and you will share your written work in the classroom setting. Registration $75 waived if taken for high school diploma or HiSET credit, or you are a College Transitions student . 12 weeks 4:00-7:00 p.m. Begins Mon 2/23 CHRHS Rm 221 Margaret Wilson has a Master’s degree in English and has taught academic writing to adults and teenagers for over 20 years. She enjoys writing short stories and has earned an Honorable Mention in 2013 at Ardor Literary Magazine. Her personal blog of book reviews is at fireflybookreviews.com.
