Chemistry with Lab

Calendar Feb 5, 2019 at 5 pm, runs for 7 weeks
This high school level introductory chemistry class, with lab, is designed for those needing chemistry for acceptance into college programs. This course qualifies as a lab science for college admissions. The instructor keeps this class rigorous, yet relaxed and supportive. Registration fee includes all lab and textbook fees, which is waived if taken for high school diploma credit. This class meets Tuesday and Thursday. This class is taught by Paul Desaulniers, a retired science teacher from Oceanside High School.

English Lab

Calendar Feb 4, 2019 at 3:30 pm, runs for 12 weeks
The goals of this English class are to improve overall writing, reading and grammar skills. We will focus on sentence construction, word usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammatical patterns. The course also emphasizes the writing process and is excellent preparation for those preparing to take the ACCUPLACER exam or college level classes. Registration $75, waived if taken for HiSET or high school diploma, or if you are a College Transitions student. Registration waived if taken for high school diploma or HiSET, high school diploma, or MCCAS.

If you are an adult without a high school diploma, the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) program could be your route to improved career prospects, a college education and increased earnings potential. Adult diploma programs are central to the mission and tradition of Maine Adult Education. Get your diploma and be one step closer to achieving your life's goals! Our daytime learning center is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Wednesday 8:30-11:00 a.m., and Tuesdays 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening sessions are at Camden Hills Regional High School. Adult Learning Center 7 Lions Ln. Camden at the Superintendent's building, also known as the "Bus Barn," behind the middle school in Camden. There is no fee for HiSET training or testing. Please email adult.education@fivetowns.net for more information.

Nancy Nickerson has her Bachelor of Science and master’s degree in teaching.  She has been working in education for over 20 years, ranging from classrooms of elementary school students to college.  Nancy has mentored student teachers from Thomas College, written curriculum in Language Arts and Math, and is an author of a children’s book. As an employment and community service specialist for FEDCAP she evaluated participants’ vocational and educational needs and participated in many community outreach committees. Nancy is excited to share her enthusiasm for learning with the adult learners in the community.

Math Lab

This math class is designed to help students working in any area of math, from the basics to algebra and geometry. Whether you are pursuing a diploma, HiSET, or need math for transition to college, the instructor will work with students at their own levels and their own pace, either individually or in small groups. Registration waived if taken for high school diploma or HiSET credit. Lora Levenseler grew up in Rockland and, after graduating from Stonehill College, returned to Maine to teach. She has been teaching math for 5 years and is currently a math teacher at CHRHS.
